Telegram Premium in India costs ₹179 per month when you subscribe inside the app, one of the lowest prices in the world. Telegram cut it from ₹469 in October 2022, and that monthly price is still the reference in 2026. The exact amount you see can differ by a few rupees depending on how you pay (Google Play, App Store or Telegram's own payment page), and yearly plans come with a discount. How to pay: UPI, card, stores

1. Open Telegram, go to Settings and tap Telegram Premium.
2. Choose monthly or yearly.
3. On Android, Google Play billing accepts UPI, cards and Play balance. On iPhone the App Store bills your Apple ID (card, UPI where supported, or gift card balance).
4. Confirm. The subscription renews automatically; cancel in your store subscriptions if you do not want renewal.

Tip: if the price looks higher than ₹179, check which country your store account belongs to. Store accounts registered in another country are billed at that country's price.

Gifting Premium

You can gift Premium to a friend from their profile (Gift Premium). Gifts are also sold on Fragment, Telegram's marketplace, where you pay in GRAM, the coin of the TON network (renamed from Toncoin in June 2026). Is it worth it?

At ₹179 a month, Premium is worth it if you live in Telegram: you follow many channels, send large files, use voice messages a lot or run a channel and want voice-to-text and more folders. If you mostly chat with family, free Telegram already does everything you need.

Cheap Premium offers

• "Premium for ₹49 for life" from a bot or a Telegram seller: usually a stolen card payment that gets reversed, or a scam where you never receive anything.
• Modded Telegram APKs with "free Premium": these apps can steal your login codes and your account.
• "Enter your code to activate Premium": nobody legitimate ever needs your Telegram login code.

Only buy in the app, through the official stores, or as a gift from a real friend.
